Maya Eventov – Artist

Artist Maya Eventov's original works radiate happiness, well-being, and an unbridled joy of life. Drawing inspiration from the rich, bold, and luminous colors of the Mediterranean, Maya captures scenes from her extensive travels in vibrant landscapes and as enchanting backgrounds for her celebrated still-life compositions.

Among Maya's most treasured gallery partnerships in the United States is Gallery Lake Geneva, nestled in the picturesque resort town of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. For many years, this premier fine art destination—recently recognized as a top art gallery—has been instrumental in bringing Maya's work to discerning collectors throughout the Midwest. The gallery's commitment to showcasing exceptional contemporary art, combined with Lake Geneva's thriving cultural scene and sophisticated clientele, has created the perfect environment for Maya's expressive paintings to flourish. Gallery Lake Geneva's dedication to representing artists of Maya's caliber has established it as a cornerstone of the region's fine art community, and their continued partnership represents a significant chapter in her American success story.

Equally important to Maya's presence in the design world is her longstanding relationship with Noure's Gallery, located on the sixth floor of Chicago's prestigious Merchandise Mart. This distinguished showroom serves as a vital bridge between fine art and the interior design community, connecting Maya's work with the Midwest's most accomplished interior decorators and architects. Her permanent display at Noure's Gallery places her paintings directly in the hands of design professionals who appreciate how her bold color palettes and emotional resonance can transform residential and commercial spaces. The Merchandise Mart's reputation as the world's leading design center ensures that Maya's art reaches clients seeking museum-quality pieces that elevate their most important projects.

Maya Eventov grew up in Leningrad, in the former Soviet Union—now known as St. Petersburg, a city legendary for its architectural beauty and rich cultural heritage. From an early age, Eventov was immersed in some of the finest art collections in the world. "I lived behind the iron curtain, but we had access to extraordinary collections at the Hermitage and Russian Museum, as well as many other museums throughout Leningrad," she recalls. It was within these hallowed halls that Maya developed both a rigorous understanding of artistic technique and a profound appreciation for the works of Europe's master artists.

From the age of six, Eventov pursued formal art education with unwavering dedication. She earned acceptance into the prestigious High School #190, affiliated with the renowned St. Petersburg State Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts. As a student, she participated in numerous exhibitions, and at just eighteen years old, her abstract composition was acquired by the Academy's permanent collection—a remarkable achievement that foreshadowed her future success.

After graduating in 1987 with a master's degree in graphic design, Maya began her professional career as an illustrator for children's books. In the early 1990s, she immigrated to Canada, where this dramatic change in scenery liberated her artistic vision. The move gave her freedom to explore, to create without constraint, and to break away from the classical painting traditions she had studied in Russia. "I'm a happy person; I enjoy beautiful flowers and landscapes. I am captivated by the scents and colors that convey strength of emotion in joyful painting," Maya explains.

Today, Eventov and her family reside just outside of Toronto, Ontario. She continues to travel extensively, finding inspiration in the varied landscapes and cultures she encounters around the world. Her work is represented in distinguished galleries throughout Canada, Great Britain, and the United States. Maya's paintings grace private collections, including that of the Right Honorable Jean Chrétien, as well as corporate collections such as the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto.
