Carl Rodrigo

Rodrigo paints landscapes with a palette knife, building oil on canvas into thick, sculptural impasto that catches the light. Forests, birches, still ponds, lilies and snowy paths glow in soft, filtered sunlight, in a restful style many viewers compare to Monet. Born in 1979 in Henan, China, he graduated from Henan University of Education, had his first major exhibition in Hong Kong in 2003 and won first place at the Beijing Art Expo in 2004. His work has been shown in the United States since 2012. See his original oils in person at Gallery Lake Geneva.
