Maya Eventov, a masterful artist whose vibrant works grace prestigious permanent collections, emerged from the cultural depths of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). In this city of artistic grandeur, she developed her foundation through early exposure to European masterworks at the legendary Hermitage and Russian Museum. Her prodigious talent manifested early – at just eighteen, her abstract composition earned a place in the St. Petersburg State Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts museum.

 

After completing her master's degree in graphic design in 1987, Eventov's artistic journey took a transformative turn with her immigration to Canada in the early 1990s. This transition liberated her from the constraints of classical training, allowing her to develop her signature style characterized by emotional depth and joyous expression through color and form.

 

Today, Eventov's work commands prominent permanent displays in two distinguished locations. In Chicago, her pieces are showcased at Noure's Gallery, situated in the prestigious Design Center Merchandise Mart (Suite 6-155). Her work also holds a permanent position at Gallery Lake Geneva located at 830 west Main St.  (formerly Gallery Matisse Lake Geneva), where her artistry continues to captivate collectors and art enthusiasts alike.

 

From her studio just outside Toronto, Eventov continues to draw inspiration from global travels, creating works that celebrate the vibrancy of Mediterranean landscapes and the subtle beauty of floral compositions. Her paintings have found homes in notable private collections, including that of former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, and corporate collections such as the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto. Her work is represented in galleries throughout Canada, Great Britain, and the United States, though her permanent exhibitions in Chicago and Lake Geneva remain cornerstones of her artistic presence.
